Taken from the May issue of PIG Magazine, here’s a playlist from Janine Rostron aka Planningtorock. The eclectic English artist, now living in Germany, will release her new album W next week.
Stream it all for free here or download for free the track The Breakes below.
And these are the ten songs selected and introduced by her.
- Etta James – Something’s Got A Hold On Me
I love Etta James’s voice and stage presence. She’s such a character and especially on this track where she does some incredible improvised singing in the beginning. - Anne Clark – Our Darkness
I think it’s very hard too talk / sing political text and Anne Clark is amazing. On this track so much intensity and passion and her message is still relevant to me. - Ann Steel – My Time
Ann Steel has to have one of the most original vocal approaches i’ve ever hear. So unique, i love her. - Oni Ayhun – OAR-004-A
This is my favorite track from Oni Ayhun. Love the harsh metal sounds. Intense. - Creep – Days
Beautiful track bu my friends Creep. I’m gonna feat on a track for their upcoming album. - Tune Yards – Bizness
I love Merril Garbus’s voice. So passionate and strangely androgynous. This track is musically brilliant too. - Bill Nelson – Do Your Dream In Colour
This guy has a huge back log of music. This is my personal favorite. It Has very timing and i love the saxophone. - Light Asylum – Dark Allies
This is my favorite song by this band. Love her voice and the driving force of the song. - Soap & Skin – Janitor of Lunacy
Anja is a great songwriter and her voice and her pronunciation of her lyrics on this track are incredibly interesting. - Roxymore – Lonelyritournelle (Demo)
